Ecopreneur.eu appointed as SME representative for Product Environmental Footprint Method

Ecopreneur.eu has been selected by the European Commission as the Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) Representative in the framework of the EU Environmental Footprint methods, in tandem with the Dutch consultancy PRé Sustainability. The rules on how to use these methods are undergoing revisions. They are relevant to how environmental performance is measured and verified under EU product legislation.

Following our recent appointment as SME Representative for the EU Ecolabel, this appointment reinforces our role in representing Europe’s sustainability frontrunners and ambitious SMEs in EU policy making. As SME representative, we will ensure input from SMEs by representing them in European Commission expert group meetings, and by commenting on draft new rules and tools related to the environmental footprint. Our aims are to bring in the small business perspective, strengthen support for sustainable entrepreneurship, and ensure that new rules are workable for smaller companies.

Ecopreneur.eu looks forward to constructive collaboration with SMEs, Pré, the European Commission and other stakeholders to make environmental footprint methods work for businesses of all sizes.
