The “Green City Accord” is a movement by European mayors to make our cities greener, cleaner and healthier. At a time when over 70% of EU citizens live in urban areas (projected to be 80% by 2050) and environmental challenges are expected to further increase, signatories commit on addressing five areas of environmental management: air, water, nature and biodiversity, circular economy and waste. In doing so, they also commit on delivering on the European Green Deal and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Ecopreneur.eu fully backs this movement brought to life by the European Commission. As a supporter, we commit to sharing our knowledge, advice and best practices to help cities and their economic ecosystems improve the quality of life for all Europeans and accelerate the implementation of relevant EU environmental laws. You can read a copy of our Supporters Statement HERE.
At this point, the Accord has been signed by mayors of nearly 60 European cities. If you believe your own hometown should be part of the initiative, here’s the link to the website.
There will also be an online ceremony with high-level speakers on September 22, if you’re interested in joining.
